Chapter 9: Mobilization

Executive Summary

The global body of Christ is the largest and most powerful social network in the world. One of the sparks for this movement was the leadership conversation of Jesus—known as the Great Commission. The apostles were slow to act regarding the command Jesus gave them to disciple the nations. The idea was so radical it would require a paradigm shift in their view of the Gentiles. God motivated people toward his purposes based on fear of punishment, hope of reward, and loving relationship. Understanding these motivational systems helps us mobilize followers to make disciples of all nations.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
~ Matthew 28:16–20
