Executive Summary
It is possible to know a lot about the Bible and a lot about leadership without being a Bible-centered leader. Not all leaders have the spiritual gift of leadership. All leaders do have at least one “word” gift. The number and type of a leader’s word gifts shapes the Bible engagement strategy. Word-gifted leaders utilize the Equipping Formula: devotional input, in-depth study, familiarity reading, and topical study. In-depth study focuses on biblical content God has used to spur a leader’s growth. In-depth study calls for a different set of study skills, based on the type of biblical content.
